On March 21st 1997, American Legion Post 310 in Mabank Texas
held a Flag Dedication Ceremony during the bi-annual 4th District
Membership Drive/Coffee Tour. Approximately 200 members of the
American Legion Family were in attendance to watch the
10' x 20' Flag of the United States of America being raised
to the top of the newly erected 60 foot flagpole.
The Flag Pole was erected and donated to the Post by the
Sons of the American Legion Squadron 310
as a tribute to the memory of their forefathers who fought in the
Great Wars.

JimYoung, Vice Commander Department of Texas and
Michael Griffith, 4th District Commander participated in the dedication.

Royal "Happy" Hancock and Arnold "Porky" Watson spearheaded this project
and must be commended for the excellent job the did.

A special thanks to the Mabank VFW who performed the
Honor Guard Duties.

The following pages are a historical rememberance of that
beautiful day in March when you could not find a dry eye in the crowd
when Old Glory reached the apex of the flagpole.

Take a picture tour of the event on the following pages.
Please be patient as the pictures of Old Glory being raised may
take a little while to load so as not to lose any of
glorious splender of her colors.
